Connect Claude.ai directly to your Hallway account and analyze your research data through natural conversation. Ask Claude to summarize findings, identify themes, compare responses, or generate custom reports—all powered by your actual interview data.

What You Can Do

With the Claude integration, you can:
  • Analyze transcripts: “Summarize the key themes from my customer research project”
  • Find patterns: “What do respondents say about pricing in the feedback interviews?”
  • Generate reports: “Create an executive summary from my latest project”
  • Compare responses: “How do enterprise customers differ from SMB customers?”
  • Extract quotes: “Find the best quotes about user onboarding experience”

Requirements

You need a Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise plan to use custom connectors. Claude.ai Free does not support custom integrations.
Before connecting:
  • A Hallway account with at least one project
  • Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise subscription
  • Processed interview sessions with transcripts

Connecting Claude to Hallway

Get the Server URL

In Hallway, go to SettingsIntegrations tab. Copy the Server URL from the Claude MCP Connection card.Or use this URL directly:

Open Claude Settings

Go to claude.ai and click your profile icon in the bottom-left. Select Settings.

Navigate to Connectors

In the Settings sidebar, click Connectors (under “Claude”).

Add Custom Connector

Click Add connector and paste the Hallway Server URL. Click Add to continue.

Authorize Access

You’ll be redirected to Hallway. If you’re not logged in, sign in with your Hallway account.Review the permissions and click Allow to grant Claude read access to your research data.

Connection Complete

You’ll be redirected back to Claude. The Hallway connector is now listed in your Connectors, and your Hallway Integrations tab will show the active connection.

Using the Integration

Enable in Conversations

To use Hallway data in a conversation:
  1. Start a new conversation or open an existing one
  2. Click the + button next to the message input
  3. Find Hallway in the list of connectors and enable it
  4. The Hallway icon appears, indicating it’s active
You need to enable the connector for each conversation where you want to use it. This ensures you control when Claude accesses your research data.

Claude will show your projects with names, status, and session counts.

Available Data

Claude can access the following from your Hallway account:

Claude has read-only access. It cannot create, modify, or delete any data in your Hallway account.

Managing Connections

View Your Connection

To see your MCP connection status and the server URL:
  1. Log in to app.hallwayai.com
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon in the sidebar)
  3. Click the Integrations tab
  4. Find the Claude MCP Connection card
You’ll see:
  • The MCP Server URL (for easy reconnection)
  • Connection status (connected or not connected)
  • When you connected and last used the integration
  • Permissions granted

Revoke Access

To disconnect Claude from your Hallway account:

Open Settings

Go to SettingsIntegrations tab in Hallway.

Find Connection

Locate your active connection in the Claude MCP Connection card.

Click Revoke

Click the Revoke button next to your connection.

Confirm

Confirm the disconnection. Claude will immediately lose access to your data.
After revoking access, you’ll need to re-authorize if you want to use the integration again.

Privacy & Security

What Data is Shared

When you use the Hallway connector:
  • Claude can read your projects, transcripts, and insights
  • Data is transmitted securely over HTTPS
  • Claude uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication (no passwords stored)
  • Access tokens expire after 1 hour (automatically refreshed)

What Data is NOT Shared

  • Your Hallway password
  • Other users’ data (if on a team account)
  • Data from accounts you don’t own
  • Audio recordings (only transcripts are accessible)

Best Practices

Enable per conversation

Only activate the connector when needed. Keep it disabled for unrelated conversations.

Review before sharing

Before sharing Claude’s analysis externally, verify the insights match your data.

Revoke when not in use

If you stop using the integration, revoke access from Settings.

Check last used date

Monitor the “last used” timestamp in Connected Apps to track access.

Troubleshooting

Connection Issues

“Unable to connect” error
  1. Ensure you’re logged into Hallway
  2. Check that you clicked “Allow” on the consent screen
  3. Try removing the connector in Claude and re-adding it
Connector not appearing in Claude
  1. Verify you have Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise
  2. Check that connectors are enabled in your organization (Team/Enterprise)
  3. Refresh Claude.ai and try again

Data Issues

“No projects found”
  • Ensure you have at least one project created in Hallway
  • Check that you’re using the same account you authorized
Transcripts not appearing
  • Only processed sessions have transcripts
  • Go to your project in Hallway and process any pending sessions
Insights seem outdated
  • Claude reads your current data each time
  • Regenerate synthesis in Hallway if you’ve added new sessions

Authorization Issues

“Unauthorized” errors
  1. Your access may have expired—disable and re-enable the connector
  2. Check if someone revoked access in Hallway settings
  3. Re-authorize by adding the connector again
Seeing wrong account’s data
  • You may be logged into a different Hallway account
  • Revoke access and reconnect with the correct account

FAQ

No, the Hallway integration is included with your Hallway subscription. You do need a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise) to use custom connectors.
No. Claude has read-only access. It can view and analyze your data but cannot create, edit, or delete anything in Hallway.
No. Data accessed through connectors is not used to train Anthropic’s models. See Anthropic’s privacy policy for details.
Each user manages their own connections. Team members cannot see or use your personal Hallway connection.
Claude will no longer have access to that project’s data. Previously generated analyses remain in your Claude conversations.
The integration is optimized for Claude.ai (web). Claude Desktop uses a different configuration method not currently supported.
