Once your project is activated, you can share your interview link with respondents. Anyone with the link can participate in an interview without creating an account.
1

Activate Your Project

Before sharing, your project must be activated. Go to your project’s Guide tab and click Activate Project after generating your interview guide.
2

Click Share Interview

Once active, click the Share Interview button in your project header. A dropdown will appear with your unique interview link.
3

Copy the Link

Click the Copy button to copy the link to your clipboard. You’ll see a confirmation message when it’s copied successfully.
The Share Interview button is only available for active projects. Draft projects must be activated first.
Your interview link looks like this:
https://app.hallway.com/interview/abc123xyz...
This link:
  • Is unique to your project
  • Works for unlimited respondents
  • Doesn’t require respondents to log in
  • Stays the same as long as your project is active

Ways to Share

Share your interview link however works best for reaching your target respondents:
Copy the link into an email invitation. Include context about:
  • What the research is about
  • How long it takes (check your time limit setting)
  • Why their input matters

Best Practices

Tell respondents what to expect: a voice conversation with an AI interviewer lasting about 10 minutes (or your configured time limit). Mention they’ll need microphone access.
People are more likely to participate when they understand how their input will be used. Share why their perspective matters to your research.
Send interview invitations when respondents are likely to have 10-15 minutes of uninterrupted time. Avoid sending late at night or during busy periods.
If you need more responses, send a gentle reminder. Don’t spam—one or two follow-ups is usually enough.

Tracking Responses

As respondents complete interviews, you’ll see them appear in your project’s Responses tab:
  • Total Sessions - How many interviews have been started
  • Completed - How many finished successfully
  • Processed - How many have been transcribed and analyzed
Check your Responses tab regularly to monitor participation and process new sessions.

Closing Your Project

When you’ve collected enough responses:
  1. You can close your project to stop accepting new interviews
  2. Existing sessions remain accessible
  3. The interview link will show a “project closed” message to new visitors
Once closed, respondents clicking your link will see a message that the research is no longer accepting responses. Make sure you’ve collected all the responses you need before closing.

Troubleshooting

Link not working?
  • Verify the project is activated (not in Draft status)
  • Check that you copied the complete link
  • Try opening the link in an incognito/private browser window
Respondents can’t start the interview?
  • They need to allow microphone access in their browser
  • A stable internet connection is required
  • Desktop browsers generally work better than mobile
